A Russian Evening with Peter Donohoe and the WSO
World renowned pianist, Peter Donohoe CBE, patron of the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra, will be joining them to play Rachmaninov’s much loved Paganini Variations at the orchestra’s first solo concert at Warwick Hall, Warwick School, on Saturday 17 June, 7.30pm.
Conducted by Roger Coull, the musicians of the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra will also be performing Tsar’s Bride by Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 5, in a Russian extravaganza.
Peter Donohoe has built an extraordinary world-wide career since coming to prominence at the 1982 International Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, encompassing a huge repertoire and performing with major orchestras and conductors across the world. He is acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time for his musicianship, stylistic versatility and commanding technique
In addition to being patron of the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra, he is vice-president of the Birmingham Conservatoire and was awarded a C.B.E. for services to music in the 2010 New Year’s Honours List.
Raymond Joyce, Chair of WSO and principal horn player said, ‘We made our initial return Warwick Hall with the massed forces of the Warwick Foundation School Choir in March and thoroughly enjoyed performing there, so we are very much looking forward to making our solo return there with such a towering musical force, and supporter of the WSO, as Peter Donohoe.’
