A Photographic Portrait of Warwick 2009-2010
A ‘Photographic Portrait of Warwick’ exhibition features key photographs taken by Warwick photographer and Warwickshire College student Liz Drake, following a year long photographic study of Warwick’s Shops and Businesses which started in 2009. The full photographic study contains over 1500 photographs in total and records the evolution of the town over the period of one year.
The exhibition features photographs of shops and business premises along with their owners and staff, many of whom have worked for years within Warwick. The exhibition photographs are accompanied by a brief interview with the shop and business owners and staff, asking their name, how long they have worked there and their favourite food. Following the exhibition the entire collection of photographs and interviews, will be handed to the Warwick Record Office and held in perpetuity for the residents of the Town. Liz Drake said "Warwick’s history is well documented, however present day Warwick also needs to be recorded for the future". As a former Town Planner, Liz has always had an interest in the evolution and development of towns, how they function and the people within them.
The exhibition, to be held at the County Records Office, Priory Park, Warwick from 13th - 17th July, will display key photographs from the study. The photographs featured in the exhibition will be signed by Liz Drake and will be available to purchase.
