This years competition is taking place in the Pageant Gardens on Castle Street from 2:00pm on Saturday 18th April. The Criers will parade through the town from 11:15, with “Bells Up” on the steps of Shire Hall around 11:30. Access to Pageant Gardens is free, so whether local or a visitor you are invited to come and support the criers. The event will run until around 4pm and then a prize-giving will take place. The top 3 will be awarded a small cash prize. All entrants will be given a locally produced gift.

There will be Criers from right across the UK attending

There are Four Sections to be judged are
1. Diction (The pronouncement of the words)
2. Inflection (The pitch of the voice and it’s variation)
3. Volume (The output of Sound)
4. Clarity (The ability to be understood despite the volume)
