• Severn Trent Debacle

  As you will know, Severn Trent decided (under Emergency Powers) to dig up part of Emscote Road for 3 weeks from 23rd March. On 19th April they eventually finished and so are over 10 days late, and there has been no weekend working to try and keep to the schedule! Apparently WCC 'are annoyed' and will fine them. We wonder where the fine will end up - any bets that it won't be in the form of compensation for the beleaguered business of Emscote Road, St. John's and Smith Street?! 

• Police Budget & Cuts

  No surprises! The Chamber predicted years ago that the police station would close and so it will in May. The skeleton staff, of mainly PCSO's, will move to an office elsewhere (Shire Hall?) Long gone are the days when we had two dedicated bobbies on the Warwick town centre beat and yet 30% of our business rates go to the Police! We wonder what exactly we are paying for?!

   

• Reducing the impact of Traffic in Warwick

  Work started on the improvements to Castle Lane on 17th January and is progressing well and is on schedule.
  The road will be closed – see www.warwickshire.gov.uk/castlelane for more details and diversion routes. 

• Gas Mains Replacement Work

  The new time-table for the Gas Mains replacement work has been agreed and circulated to members. Starting in May 2011, the work will continue until October 2011 and then again from February to Easter 2012. Contact us if you need further information.
