• Gas Mains Replacement Work

  We have just been informed that National Grid have postponed the gas mains replacement work in Warwick town centre in order to redirect their manpower to emergency work across the region caused by the recent weather conditions.
  There is a meeting scheduled for January to discuss a revised plan but we have made it very clear to National Grid that any thought of work during the all important Summer period or Christmas (ie. October - December 2011) will be vigorously opposed. We will let you know when we have more details. 

• Police Budget & Cuts

  No surprisees! The Chamber predicted years ago that the police station would close to customers (it did) and now it appears we are right again and that it may disappear altogether. Long gone are the days when we had two dedicated bobbies on the Warwick town centre beat and yet 30% of our business rates go to the Police! We wonder what exactly we are paying for?!

   

• Warwick Fire Station

  Warwick Fire Station Will Close
  

  You will be aware that Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have a cost-cutting proposal to close Warwick Fire Station and we now learn that the one station closest to the M40 and A46 bypass will be closed. When there is so much wastage in other areas it shows a distinct lack of imagination to axe a life-saving service.
