Bernstein was one of the most prolific composers of the 20th Century, best known for musicals such as West Side Story. He was also a renowned conductor. The harp, percussion and organ accompaniment to his haunting Chichester Psalms pair naturally with the similarly scored and equally beautiful work by Janacek, Otche Nash (The Lord’s Prayer).
In a first for Armonico Consort, the choir will be joined by the choir of Warwick School in addition to young singers from the AC Academy in Warwick to perform an improvisation with the Parisian world-famous exponent of the art, Naji Hakim. Hakim has also written final work in the programme, Valet will ich dir geben, a work commissioned in memory of Adrian Quayle, a former pupil of Warwick School, who tragically died aged just 28.
