The Women’s Cycling Tour

The Women’s Cycling Tour

This summer is all about cycling in Warwickshire, as The Women’s Tour is returning to the county on Friday 15th June 2018.

Warwickshire will be hosting Stage 3 of the Tour this year. This means elite cyclists such as Lizzie Deignan (formally Armistead) and reigning Women’s Tour champion Lisa Brennauer, will be racing the roads of the county once again!

The 150 kilometre stage will pass through the heart of the county. Starting in the north in Atherstone’s historic market square and winding its way through Warwickshire’s countryside, before taking the riders alongside a number of local landmarks including the National Cycling Memorial in Meriden, and on through the world-class University of Warwick campus.

The peloton will ride through Kenilworth and Warwick town centres, with their famous castles, before climbing to the highest points in Warwickshire, through Burton Dassett Country Park, Edge Hill, Shipston-on-Stour and Wellesbourne, before the race finishes in Royal Leamington Spa.

The longest stage of this year’s Women’s Tour and with a substantial amount of climbing in the south of the county, the Warwickshire stage is sure to be a good early indicator of who could win the Yellow Jersey!
